Measured, not promised

The crypto sportsbook margin index

Review sites tell you a book has “competitive odds”. Nobody shows the number. We capture real prices from crypto sportsbooks — same fixtures, logged out where the book allows it — and publish the overround with a date on every row.

First basket sample (8 July 2026): on identical World Cup 1X2 fixtures, Duel priced at 1.74–2.49% overround — straddling Pinnacle’s advertised 2–2.5% sharp-book level (France–Morocco beat it at 1.74%, Spain–Belgium matched it at 2.49%) — while Duelbits ran ~4.0% and Cloudbet 4.9–5.5%. On esports, Thunderpick sampled at 7.8–11.5%. Small sample so far (n<6 per book) — the index grows with every re-measurement.

Every row is a real price we captured, with its capture date. Overround = (Σ 1/odds − 1) × 100. Sample counts are still below our n≥6 bar for publishing medians — treat these as first data points, not averages.

Want the same comparison on one fixture, book against book? The de-vig tool has a “compare our sampled books” mode, and it strips the vig from any odds you paste in. How rows get here — sampling windows, the n≥6 rule for medians, proof archive — is on the methodology page.

What the numbers mean

The margin (overround, vig, juice — same thing, different bases) is the bookmaker’s built-in price on every bet. A 2% book takes $2 of every $100 of fair value; an 11% esports market takes $11. It is the single biggest controllable cost of betting — bigger than any bonus for a regular bettor.

Dig into a market

Football 1X2

The most liquid market in the basket — and where the pricing gap between books was widest in our first sample: 1.74% to 5.48% on the same fixtures.

Esports (CS2 · Dota 2 · LoL)

The priciest corner we measured: 7.8–11.5% overrounds at the esports reference book. Big margins hide well in odds nobody converts to percentages.

Tennis

Clean two-way markets — the easiest place to see what stripping the vig does to a price.

Margin history

The index only matters if it repeats. This page accumulates every sampling round so pricing habits become visible over time.

Why trust these numbers

Three rules, enforced on every row: real captured prices only (screenshot or API dump archived, capture date shown), no medians before six samples per book and market, and stale flags when a number outlives its two-week shelf life. The full procedure — including what we do when a book blocks logged-out browsing — is on the methodology page. What we are not: a bookmaker, a tipster, or a “trusted casinos” list. See how crypto books compare with regulated ones and what “zero margin” offers actually contain.

Common questions

Which crypto sportsbook had the lowest margin in your sample?

In our first dated basket sample (8 July 2026), Duel priced World Cup 1X2 fixtures at 1.74% and 2.49% overround — the sharpest football prices in the basket. Duelbits ran ~4.0%, Cloudbet 4.9–5.5%, and Thunderpick's esports markets 7.8–11.5%. Sample counts are still below our n≥6 bar, so treat these as first data points, not averages.

What is a good sportsbook margin?

Pinnacle — the traditional low-margin reference — advertises roughly 2–2.5% (their own 2018 figures). Standard US pricing of -110/-110 works out to 4.76% overround. Anything under ~3% is sharp; 5%+ on a liquid market is expensive; recreational books can run 7–10% or more.

How do you calculate the margin?

Overround = (sum of 1/decimal-odds across all outcomes − 1) × 100. Example: 1.62 / 4.10 / 6.40 on a 1X2 market sums to 101.74% — a 1.74% overround. Our methodology page shows the full sampling procedure.

Are these numbers live odds?

No. Every figure is a dated sample — a real price we captured at a specific moment, kept with its capture date and source. Prices move constantly; use the index to compare pricing habits between books, then check the live betslip.
