Responsible Gambling: What a Low Margin Does Not Do

This whole site exists to find bookmakers with lower margins. So let us be the ones to say it clearly: a lower margin means you lose less per bet on average. It never makes betting profitable. Nobody out-prices variance, and no number on our board changes that.

The honest frame

The margin is the price of the bet. Shopping for a smaller margin is like shopping for a cheaper cinema ticket — sensible if you were going to the cinema anyway, meaningless if you're trying to make the cinema pay you. The expected direction of your bankroll at any bookmaker with a positive margin is down. Slower at a tight book, faster at a wide one, but down. Our measurement procedure exists to price that honestly, not to promise a way around it.

Streaks in either direction are variance doing what variance does. Winning weeks are not skill confirmed, and losing weeks are not money the next bet will "return". There is no bet that recovers a loss; there is only another bet with another price on it.
