"Zero Margin" Crypto Sportsbooks: What the Label Actually Contains

Search "zero margin sportsbook crypto" and you get marketing pages quoting other marketing pages. Here is what the two real zero-margin stories in crypto betting actually consist of — promos with caps and a plan under construction — and what our own measurements found when we checked the prices underneath.

No crypto sportsbook currently offers sitewide zero-margin pricing. Cloudbet has run real, documented Zero-Margin promo campaigns on selected markets. Duel runs a genuine zero-edge program — for its casino, with a sportsbook version announced only as a plan. Every "0%" label we've audited is capped, scoped, or not yet built.

Cloudbet: real promos, not sitewide pricing

Cloudbet's Zero-Margin campaigns are the most documented case: an EPL campaign in 2020 and a French Open campaign the same year, both real, both applying to selected markets during the promo window rather than to the book's standing prices. One vendor reports a $1,000 winnings cap per customer on these campaigns — we could not confirm that cap in any primary source, so treat it as reported, not established.

Ad Some outbound bookmaker links on this site can earn us a commission — commissions never reorder or touch the measured numbers.

Outside promo windows, Cloudbet's sitewide story is a 2020 blog post claiming margins "typically of 2%-3%" versus others at "7% or 8%, or even more"; their live sports page today says only "lower margins than traditional bookmakers", with no number attached. Our 8 July 2026 sample of their World Cup 1X2 boards measured 4.90–5.48% overround (n=4, one round, below our n≥6 bar). One round doesn't refute a six-year-old claim — but it's why we log claims next to measurements on the margin history page and re-sample. You can see Cloudbet's current board and run the numbers yourself; more detail on the operator sits in the Cloudbet profile.

Duel: zero-edge is live — for the casino

Duel's zero-edge program exists and is specific: roulette at 0% house edge, most original games at 0.1%, with a $1,000 max bet and a $50,000 daily wager cap. That is a casino program. It says nothing about sports pricing.

For the sportsbook, the only official statement is an announcement: "A 0% edge PvP sportsbook... something we're in the process of building" (duel.com/wtf-duel). That is a plan, and we quote it as one. What we can say from measurement: Duel's World Cup 1X2 prices on 8 July 2026 carried 1.74–2.49% overround (n=2) — the tightest football pricing in our first round, genuinely low, and genuinely not zero. Their live esports boards the same day ran as wide as 13.71%. The full picture is in the Duel profile.

The math reality. A book pricing every market at a true 0% margin earns nothing on balanced action. It can do that briefly (a marketing spend), narrowly (selected markets), or with caps (limiting what winners extract) — but not permanently, sitewide, and uncapped, because that isn't a business. So the working rule is simple: treat every "zero margin" label as a capped promo until measured.

Measure, don't trust the banner

This site exists because labels and prices diverge. The label says "zero"; the board says whatever the decimal odds say. Checking takes seconds: put any 2-way or 3-way line into the de-vig calculator and read the overround off the result. If a promo really prices a market at 0%, the implied probabilities will sum to 100% and you'll see it — no press release required. How we choose which markets to sample, and why we never mix live with prematch, is covered in the sampling rules.

When either story changes — Cloudbet running a new campaign, or Duel's PvP sportsbook moving from plan to product — the measurements will land in our next sampling round, dated, with the odds we saw. Until then: two real promos in 2020, one announced plan, and no standing zero-margin sportsbook anywhere in crypto that we can verify.

Common questions

Does a zero-margin crypto sportsbook exist?

Not as a sitewide, permanent product. What exists: Cloudbet's documented Zero-Margin promo campaigns (EPL 2020, French Open 2020) on selected markets, and Duel's announced plan for a 0% edge PvP sportsbook that is still described by the operator as in the process of being built. Every zero-margin label we have checked is a capped promo or a plan, not standing pricing.

Is Duel's sportsbook zero margin?

No. Duel's live zero-edge program is casino-only (roulette 0%, most originals 0.1%, $1,000 max bet, $50,000 daily wager cap). For sports, the only official statement is a plan: 'A 0% edge PvP sportsbook... something we're in the process of building.' Our 8 Jul 2026 sample of Duel's World Cup 1X2 measured 1.74-2.49% overround - low, but not zero.

What's the catch in zero-margin promos?

Scope and caps. The promos apply to selected markets during a campaign window, not sitewide, and caps limit what a winner can extract - for Cloudbet's campaigns a $1,000 winnings cap per customer is reported by one vendor, though we could not confirm it in a primary source. A book that priced everything at 0% would earn nothing on balanced action, so a permanent, uncapped version cannot be the business model.

How can I check a margin myself?

Take the decimal odds from any 2-way or 3-way market and enter them in the OverroundHQ de-vig calculator at /devig/. If the implied probabilities sum to more than 100%, the excess is the margin - whatever the banner above the odds says.
